Logline Friday Winner – January 14th

And the Logline Friday winner for Friday, January 14th is…

Rich Sheehy!

First and Goal – Two NFL coaches (former teammates turned bitter enemies – think Ryan and Belechick), must figure out a way to get along when their kids announce they are getting married.

This high-concept comedy might be too derivative for some, but hey, those movies get made.

Will Ferrell vs. Vince Vaughn? Jack Nicholson vs. Alec Baldwin? Steve Carell vs. Ricky Gervais?

____ vs.  ____ ?

Obviously I’m not a casting director, but you get the picture.  Throw two big stars in it and have them go at it.

Congrats to Rich who wins notes on the first five pages of any script he wishes to send my way!

If you didn’t win this week, don’t worry – there’s always another Friday around the corner.

Onward!

-Eric

Isn’t the whole parenthesis thing rather unusual? It kinda prevents a visual story from popping up in my head when reading the logline…
Just wondering what kind of loglines you normally see in your daily scriptreading work…
    Thanks! 🙂

It’s a little unusual, Simone, so I wouldn’t recommend it. But in this case, if you are a sports fan, I think it helps get the point across.

Ah ok, thanks. Yes, I agree, since I know the two coaches (at least by name), I was able to figure it out but I guess I would have been rather confused otherwise. 🙂
        Thanks for your reply!

    Hi Simone,

It’s very unusual and I wouldn’t typically include it, but Eric’s spot on. I did it because if you follow football, it would immediately give you a clear idea of what I was going for here. If not, I guess it would be really confusing! 🙂

Thanks again, Eric! I’ve been trying for awhile so it’s nice to get the win!
